GREATER Manchester Combined Authority’s Bee Network Committee has approved the investment of £21.4 million to improve the Metrolink system over the next 12 months.
The money, from the Government’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement, forms part of £147 million earmarked for maintenance, upgrades and improvements to the tram network up to 2027.
Asummer scheme of track replacement is among what Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) describes as “immediate priorities”. Piccadilly Gardens, London Road and parts of the Altrincham and Bury lines will be the focus of engineering attention.
