Reclaim  |  ISSUE 64
The meaning of ‘home’ has transformed over the last 18 months – with many factors such as the increasingly open discussion of women’s rights, the BLM movement and the climate emergency all feeding into how we see ourselves and our surroundings.
The questions these issues throw up can make us re-examine and gain confidence in our own, personal story. And if we listen, the insights and creativity we gain from others can add depth to how we express ourselves in our decor, who we buy from, the provenance of those things – perhaps even elevate our aesthetic.
Someone who’s doing this with bells on is Kemi Lawson and we’re thrilled to have her home as our cover feature. Her own black heritage, and teaching that ancestor story to her daughters, is joyously celebrated in every part of her period property. She’s re-writing the rules on what ‘home’ could be – with plenty of good design and creativity to boot!
Elsewhere, in her regular column Micaela Sharp chooses beautiful vintage brass pieces. She, as always, specifically looks at independent, boutique brands, reflecting the authenticity and eco-credentials we desire.
Artist Jason Mecier makes a bold statement on celebrity culture with his portraits made from trash; whilst on the other side of the same coin Tamsyn Morgans creates old-school glamour through beautiful vintage vignettes.
We hope that this – and all- issues reflects the diversity of you, our readers, and also inspires you to enjoy the freedom of self-expression.
