In a recent article in the SKEPTICAL INQUIRER, David Mountain discussed the tremendous good that the scientif ic environmental movement has created. At the same time, he emphasized an important cautionary note: “Unfortunately, environmentalism and science are not always the same thing. Indeed, throughout its history, environmentalism has been shaped by a range of fringe beliefs that have nurtured a tradition of unscientific thinking about the natural world” (Mountain 2021, 29). Kendrick Frazier’s editorial in the same issue also elucidates the critical importance of accurate scientific understanding of environmental issues (Frazier 2021, 4).
