Sporting Rifle  |  Dec-16
Sporting Rifle – December 2016 (Issue 136)
The mid-winter issue featured a round-up of the best in sub-zero- temperature sport from around the world: driven moose in Scandinavia, sika deer in New Zealand, musk ox in Greenland and roe doe in bonny Scotland.
Continuing the frosty theme, best practice advice and tips was offered through wintertime hunting activities, including foxing and roe deer culling; turning the temperature up a touch, though, we reported on a kudu hunting safari in Africa.
Among the hunting products under the review spotlight were the Browning Maral and BAR rifles which went head to head in our exacting test, the innovative Pulsar Digisight N970 night vision digital scope and binoculars from Minox. Oh, and being Christmas, the best festive gifts currently on the market were highlighted. The technical aspect of bullets was also analysed.
Finally, our editor-in- chief, Pete Carr, was the subject of a Q&A and the colourful life of renowned hunter Wally Johnston was recalled.
