If you’re a writer, it’s not always easy to drill down and focus on your work. Freewrite’s Ernest Hemingway Signature Edition smart typewriter – also known as the ‘Hemingwrite’ – is an attempt to rectify that. It’s built for a singular purpose, so there are no apps and notifications to pull you from your path. But despite its throwback inspiration and minimal aesthetic, it’s got plenty of modern features. It uses an e-ink display rather than paper, and everything you write is saved to the cloud for retrieval on other devices. There are switches for connecting over Wi-Fi, plus a USB-C port for charging and data syncing.
It’s full of premium touches, too, like the custom-fitted leather-and-velvet travel case and the laser-etching of Hemingway’s signature. Each unit is hand polished and individually finished, with its aluminium chassis bringing both heft and luxury to your work.
