UltraMarine Magazine  |  Issue 33
For a while at least, John Clipperton steps away from focusing on a single fish species to explain his concept of a ‘digital-reef’ – an aquarium or system designed thoughtfully both to utilise and capitalise on digital technologies in a number of different areas – can be used either to create a system entirely, or to enhance an existing one.
Simply Stunning – that’s how we see Paul Whitby's 2,200 litre reef system, and we were delighted when Paul agreed to show us round his astounding aquatic mansion.
In his second contribution, John Clipperton’s Fishes in Focus section looks at the those small characters with larger-than-life personalities, the dottybacks of the Pseudochromis genus and, in Getting the Basics Right, David Wolfenden helps with the interesting – but potentially perilous – cycling phase of Maturing the Aquarium.
James Fatherree gives us a great insight into the simplest of multi-cellular animals in Sponges in the Marine Aquarium while Richard Smith gives us a good grounding in those most charismatic of fishes, the anemonefish.
Last but not least, our Editor, Richard Aspinall, chronicles the build of his new system and tests some of the kit available to reefers in Out With the Old and In With the New.
We also have our regular features – Marine News, full of the latest news from the marine world, and Questions & Answers—one of our most popular features—where our marine expert, David Wolfenden, answers a selection of marine queries posed by readers.
