The guppy fish is named after Robert John Lechmere Guppy, a researcher and geologist. They were discovered in 1886 in Trinidad and there are 300 types of guppy fish in South America. They are often a popular choice to keep in domestic aquariums. In the wild, they live in warmer waters off the coast of Trinidad and Tobago, and around Brazil.
Guppies are a range of colours, from a vibrant orange to a subtle white, each one is different. They are otherwise known as Million Fish because of the amount of offspring that they produce.
