Without giving up my age, I think it’s safe to say I’ve been around a while. And I’ve followed baseball passionately . . . from the very earliest days I can recall.
Yet until I read Marty Appel’s piece on the 1910 postseason exhibition series between the New York Giants and New York Yankees (Highlanders), I knew nothing about those games that went back-andforth between the Giants’ Polo Grounds and the Yanks’ considerably smaller Hilltop Park. I certainly didn’t realize the significance of that series.
