NO PAIN, NO GAIN?
Our annoyingly cheerful ultrarunner Damian Hall has had two uncomfortable experiences this month – one of which was a little (pun unintended – sorry Damian!) embarrassing

It was snow joke for Damian

I had two running experiences this month that couldn’t have been more different. One was exactly why I love the sport (sport always seems the wrong word – it’s a bit more than that isn’t it?). The other was, on paper, something I’ve always hated the idea of. They both hurt. But in very different ways. One led to frostnip in a very delicate area.
We don’t get much snow in the South West, so when the Brecon Beacons got a huge dump of the white stuff – the most in the country in fact – I just had to get out there. Roads had been closed the day before, but it was just about passable, with some cautious predawn driving.
