New research, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, looking at nut consumption and cardiovascular disease, has found that people who regularly eat nuts, including walnuts, peanuts and tree nuts, may have a lower risk of developing heart disease.
According to the study, walnuts specifically are associated with a 19% lower risk of cardiovascular disease, 21% lower risk of coronary heart disease and 17% lower risk of stroke, when consumed one or more times per week.
