MY BEST RACE
Peak District Boundary
Catharine Crossley, from Macclesfield, is an ultra-runner with a love of very long distances On 26 August 2022, I started my journey round the Peak District Boundary, which is 198 miles. It’s an incredible route stretching from the moorland tops of the South Pennines to the limestone scenery of the Derbyshire Dales.
The route embraces the urban edges of Sheffield, as well as Staffordshire’s rugged moorland and the undulating slopes of Cheshire. I’d arranged for my partner, Marc, to meet me along the route in a hired camper van, acting as a mobile checkpoint, and throughout the route, I was joined by members of my running club. In fact, I only ran nine miles by myself ! People arranged transport among themselves, rearranged schedules and brought hot food too.
