“Even though I’ve always found buying clothes from charity shops and purchasing upcycled products rewarding, I never realised how much of an impact clothing actually had on climate. Until, that is, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a post highlighting the fact that 300,000 tonnes of used clothing goes to landfill each year in the UK.
“I felt sad I was a part of this. It made me think about how I was contributing – including my increasing obsession with running wear and the enjoyment of receiving freebies at sporting events. Did running really support the countryside in which I live?
