Womenshouldn’t runwhile pregnant
This myth was part of a set of beliefs that prevented women taking part in sport at the highest level right up until the 1980s. We now know that, unless you have a medical issue, and have been advised not to run, continuing to exercise at some level during your pregnancy actually brings benefits. Some women will have to modify volume and intensity depending on their individual journey, but the American College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists recommends pregnant women exercise 30 minutes a day. Listening to your body is paramount; if you’re too tired or in pain, rest. See our feature on this topic on p82.
