Mugwump Press is a US small press with the ‘radical notion that literature can be both commercially viable and not totally suck’. Mugwump prefers authors with an idea about personal branding and self-promotion, and has two imprints, Afrocentric Books and Mofo pubs.
Afrocentric Books aims to shake up the ‘usual stereotypical Eurocentric settings and characters’. Novels for the imprint must have at least one main character who is of indigenous African descent. Any genre of adult fiction is welcomed but the editors do like speculative fiction. Make sure the story is character-driven with a powerful plot.
