A previously unpublished manuscript by Anthony Burgess, author of A Clockwork Orange, has been discovered, says Andrew Biswell, director of the Burgess Foundation.
The 200 page manuscript, a mix of typed pages, notes and outlines, is called The Clockwork Condition, and is an account of the writing of A Clockwork Orange and the author’s thoughts on the controversial film version by Stanley Kubrick. Andrew comments, ‘it’s not complete, but at 200 pages, it’s a meaty draft’ and hopes the work will be published, along with a significant number of unknown short stories which have also been found in the Burgess archive.
