When Hannah Welch moved into her tiny two-bedroom Victorian terrace in Cheshire, she was delighted to inherit a converted loft space. ‘Both bedrooms, while functional, were fairly small due to the addition of an upstairs bathroom and inevitable loft access, so the resulting large loft was a real bonus,’ says Hannah. Sadly, despite having great views, the loft itself was freezing, as although the previous owner had invested in Velux windows and built-in storage, they had seriously skimped on insulation and heating – an upgrade was, therefore, essential to create a warm and welcoming room.
Flat-pack furniture is often the perfect solution for loft dwellers, allowing for seriously substantial pieces. Hannah’s generous double drawers are finished in a white stain, to help keep the look light and airy
