A problem a problem shared
Got a problem? DR RANJ SINGH and WAYNE DHESI are here to offer their advice…
After a heavy night out recently, I went home with a guy and we had sex.
I can’t remember whether we used a condom and I’m worried I’ve caught something from him, despite not showing any physical symptoms. I’m too scared to get tested and, in truth, always have been. So I haven’t been for a check-up for a few years. But now the anxiety is starting to have an impact on my work, because I can’t stop panicking.
ADAM, ROMFORD
WAYNE: Let’s be honest, you already know what I’m going to say: you need to get tested. It might sound like the easiest advice I’ve ever had to give someone in this column, but I understand your anxieties around sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
The fact that you haven’t had a sexual health check-up in a few years means that you’re not just putting yourself at risk, but you’re also risking the health of anyone you have sex with. I don’t mean to make you feel guilty, but it’s important that you don’t allow your fears and anxieties to affect the well-being of others.
