MG ADO35 AutoCult, 1:43, €110
AutoCult’s latest will appeal to both Mini and MG model collectors, because it’s the first time the little-known ADO35 has been made in miniature. The 1960 prototype has never been seen in public, and for several decades was thought lost. Story has it BMC was impressed by David Ogle’s SX1000, so commissioned Pininfarina to style and build a Mini coupé as a possible Spridget replacement. The Turin studio fabricated just one aluminium body, with many Ferrari fittings including locks and window-winder mechanisms. The silver four-seater vanished until reports in the 1980s of its survival and protracted restoration. With little reference, Thomas Roschmann and the AutoCult team have produced a superb 1:43.
