Can I question Martin Buckley’s assumption that the Ferrari 166/195 tested in the August used a ‘Nardi’ steering wheel? I had a similar wheel on my ’53 Aurelia B20 Series III. It was in terrible condition and took a long time to restore, because – to my surprise – it wasn’t a Nardi. It didn’t have the Nardi signature on it, but it did have the wood held in place with big, flush brass rivets, as did the Ferrari. Lancia had as much claim as any to use Nardi products because fellow Torinese Enrico Nardi and Vincenzo Lancia were friends and raced together at one point. But the official Nardi wheel was a spin-off when the racing accessories part of Enrico’s business failed, in about 1951.
