Complete with its controversial acid blotting paper sleeve, Sheet One was revolutionary in bringing minimalism to the then frenetic sound of techno in 1993. The first in a series of vinyl reissues for Richie Hawtin’s alias, Plastikman’s debut has an emotional heft in the slow-build shivers of Drp and Koma. For all its atmospherics, Sheet One still packs a punch, with the menacing Helikopter and appropriately squelchy Glob remaining able to deposit the unwary listener into the middle of next week. Finally back out on digital, too, Plastikman’s thrills are the real deal.
