TURMERIC FOR TUMMY TROUBLES
Indigestion giving you grief? Turmeric might help. A study in the journal BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine has found that curcumin, the active compound in the bright yellow root, may be as good for treating indigestion as pharmaceuticals. According to researchers, curcumin is anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, and coats the stomach lining to combat excess acid. Try adding the ground spice to curries, soups, stews and even scrambled eggs, or grate the fresh stuff into smoothies. If symptoms persist, make sure you see a health professional.
