I love that we are living in a time where trans and non-binary creatives can make art, without being pigeonholed into making art solely about “the trans experience”.
This new horror follows Casey, a teen who is about to take the World’s Fair Challenge – an occult horror online game where participants upload videos documenting the changes in themselves triggered by the game. It’s an experimental film, strange and visually astounding as it draws on the digital aesthetics of livestreams and gaming and there is no in-person face-to-face communication throughout. This is a horror movie that manages to be relaxing. It is both uncomfortable and at times oddly soothing with ASMR sounds, long periods of stillness and tiredness. If you’re looking for a horror film like no other, definitely check this out.
