Only €5,99
A rare British warbird graces the cover of the November issue of FlyPast. Following superb work by Hawker Restorations, Hurricane Mk.IIb BE505 has flown again – this time as a two-seater. This means the chance to fly as a passenger in the type has now become a possibility. Darren Harbar talks to the team behind this remarkable adaptation and captures exclusive air-to-air images of this storied machine.

Classics – Mirage
Our collectible and in-depth Classics section delves into Dassault’s dynamic Mirage III series of jets. The first Western European combat type to exceed Mach 2 in horizontal flight, it served with a dozen nations and built the foundations for the enormous export success of later Mirage variants. Malcolm V Lowe assesses this potent fighter – with exclusive artwork from Andy Hay.

De Havilland memories
Ken Ellis offers a retrospective study examining the major steps that transformed aircraft manufacturer de Havilland into a world-beating firm.

Irish fighter ace
With October 16 marking the centenary of Irish fighter ace Brendan ‘Paddy’ Finucane’s birth, Christopher Warner shines a spotlight on this tenacious ace who made the ultimate sacrifice aged just 21.

D-Day’s forgotten heroes
Graham Pitchfork emphasises the importance of RAF Coastal Command’s role in the success of the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944.

Also in this issue, former editor Nigel Price visits Kent Battle of Britain Museum, marking the occasion of the iconic conflict’s 80th anniversary. Bob Fischer talks to Wim Stapel about his experiences with the venerable de Havilland Tiger Moth while Robert Soek describes how he has refurbished the life-saving cockpit module from a crashed USAF General Dynamics F-111. We also wish aviation art experts Military Gallery a happy 45th birthday, and don’t miss our competition for an original Richard Taylor illustration.

Digital subscription for Flypast magazine

I have purchased the Flypast magazine for many years and generally as a hard copy. However, for the last couple of years l have subscribed annually to the digital version and now read on my iPad.
The magazine is great and I always find the content interesting and varied and never bored with the topics covered. Whilst previously enjoying the hard copy l am now a devoted digital subscriber and would recommend this version. On the downside you miss out on add ons such as calendars etc.
