1 The part of your ear outside your head is called the auricle, and is made up of the leshy lobe and – mostly – cartilage, surrounded by a layer of tissue supplying nerve cells and bloodand covered by a thin layer of skin. We’re one of the few mammals with ixed ears, but you can teach yourself to wiggle yours by focusing on connective muscles around the face.
