MODEL BEHAVIOUR
THE THIRD DIMENSION
Our resident modelling expert Andy Pearson shows how you give a 3D effect to your favourite horror posters if, like him, you’ve got too much free time on your hands!
It’s probably an indication of boredom or at least a lack of inspiration when a bloke finds himself doing something even more pointless than usual which, if you’ve done me the honour of reading many of these pieces, you’ll realise means very pointless indeed.
In my defence, this project began life many years ago when I retired from regular employment running my own business and embraced the wacky world of freelance writing. Now, whilst that is much more fun than having a proper job, fellow freelancers will know that it also means a lot more free time as the rule of thumb in terms of paid work is, figuratively speaking, famine or feast.
It was probably during one of those periods of free time (I believe that those in the acting profession refer to it as ‘resting’) that I really returned to the world of model making and, specifically, working in clay. Early efforts produced what could be charitably described as mixed results and I’m not sufficiently arrogant to describe the stuff I produce today as outstanding although people do buy my work and some even commission pieces.
