Many readers will be keen to know what’s eating into their computer’s disk space. And the culprit more often than not are duplicate files. Written in Rust, dupeGuru is a nifty little tool that can help you weed out duplicate files. It features three modes – Standard, Music and Images – and offers different scan types for each of them. For instance, you can search for files using filenames, folders, define files to ignore, use regular expressions, and such. For images, you have the option to search using EXIF timestamp, while you can search for duplicate music files using tags such as track, artist, album and more.
Although the project is well documented covering every aspect of its usage, there’s not much written about installation. In addition to installing from source, you can also grab the official Deb or RPM binary package, and install dupeGuru without hassles.
