On reading your paper of August 16, I see it is still rumbling on with accusations that Ian Blackford MP allegedly stormed into the Liberal Democrat campaign office during the 2015 election campaign.
I would like to put the record straight. I was working as a volunteer, as I do around Fort William, and was working that day on repairing the SNP shop. As Mr Blackford came in, I was just finishing up and during our conversation we walked up the street. We were passing the Liberal Democrat campaign office and Mr Blackford said he’d like to pop in and see Charles Kennedy but unfortunately he was not there.
Mr Blackford was very civil but unfortunately the campaign manager at the time was very aggressive towards Mr Blackford. After a few unpleasantries, Mr Blackford decided to leave the Liberal Democrat campaign office and we continued along the street whereupon we parted company as I still had other things to do. A few days or weeks later, it was stated in the media that Mr Blackford was the one being aggressive but this is a fabrication from the then campaign manager for what I can only assume are political reasons. I feel very sad that he has lowered himself to this level.
