Chairman Niall Iain MacLean welcomed a good crowd to hear Scott Band and his Trio at the February meeting of the Inveraray and District Accordion and Fiddle Club.
Supporting players were not so plentiful, but the evening got under way in the usual fashion with Fyne Folk, including Sally Hall, Alex John MacLeod and Jake MacKay on fiddles and Agnes Liddell on keyboard and they were joined by Ishbel Fraser on ‘moothie’ for the third set. Also playing were – Alex MacKinnon from Carradale on button box, accompanied by Agnes on keyboard; Jake on ‘moothie’ along with Agnes and, paying her first visit to the club from Arduaine, Winnie Campbell on accordion, accompanied by Agnes. All their selections were much enjoyed.
The guest artistes were far travelled, with Scott Band on Scott Band Trio accordion from Blairgowrie, Bill Ewan on keyboard from Markinch and Graham Sherrit on drums from Arbroath, and they delighted the audience with a well-rehearsed programme of more than 20 sets in all, including ffe Jake MacKay Two Step, composed by the late Bill Black for the club’s very own ‘moothie’ player.
