Artist Mella Shaw's work will be the focus of a new exhibition at Comar in Tobermory, Mull. Shaw works with clay to make thought-provoking objects and site-specific installations. Her powerful but delicate work explores weighty themes of fragility and loss.
Underpinned by a background in anthropology, museums and the study of material culture. Her practice is centred on recurring themes of balance, tipping points, thresholds and edges. Since graduating with an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art, London in 2013, Shaw has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally, with solo shows in London, Cambridge, Edinburgh and Stockholm. In 2015 she was selected as part of the AWARD exhibition, representing the best of British making, at the British Ceramics Biennial in Stoke-on-Trent.
