We look at this unusual species of antelope
The gerenuk, also known as the giraffe gazelle, is a species of antelope found in the Horn of Africa. Comprising of Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Eritrea, this area of the continent is desert-like, with the gerenuk also being found in other parts of East Africa. It is the only member of the Litocranius genus, meaning it is the only type of animal within its taxonomy group (its scientific classification). The gerenuk is part of the Bovidae family, which also includes bison, different species of buffalo, antelopes and gazelles, to name but a few.
