Old Glory Magazine  |  Sep-22
September issue of Old Glory David Reed continues the story of James Allison’s latest restoration on an ex Argentinean Aveling and Porter XAC tractor, surely up there as the restoration of the year?
David Reed also downsized to the Echills Wood Railway, where they held a steam miniature event with lots of young enthusiasts taking part, including the third generation of the Wood family and their recently rebuilt Farmers Friend, which originally debuted in 1976. We look at a rare 1920 Marshall Q type genuine traction engine that is being kept as it last worked in the late 1940s and was the star at the recent Amberley Chalk Pits Museum Steam Show on 2-3 July.
Bob Moorman looks back as to where the W J King steam wagons, rollers and traction engines have headed to, from the various sales that they were in, particularly from the 1970s-80s. Thanks to Chris Rowberry we glimpse back nearly 100 years, when International Harvester Co trucks were part of everyday life in the UK and Ireland.
