In between a fair amount of travelling this past month, I’ve managed to cram in some assembly line work on a ten-wagon rake of china clay open wagons, built from the former Ratio plastic kits now under the Parkside by Peco umbrella. Intended to complement my existing fleet of flat-sheeted clay wagons, the plan is to equip these new additions with the peaked style of tarpaulins, forming a rake of ‘Clayhoods’. A Model Rail reader offered an interesting method of creating the distinctive hoods, which I’m curious to try for myself – look out for more on this subject in a future issue.
As I mentioned last month, while testing Parkside’s new BR 13T hopper wagon kits, the supplied wheels were disappointing.
