AS INVASIVE non-native weed species such as Himalayan balsam and Japanese knotweed become an ever-growing problem, Councillor Elaine Robertson raised the issue at last week’s council meeting.
The Oban North and Lorn member said that concerns over the issue had been raised with her by people in her ward.
Council officers advised the member that Argyll and the Isles Coast and Countryside Trust is currently developing a bid for European funding for the control and/or eradication of non-native invasive species.
