This self-published autobiography was written as a lockdown project and has the relaxed feeling of a friend or relative sharing their lifeʼs story. For the many who recall Irish tin-top and sports-racing star Alec Pooleʼs competitive career, the anecdote-laden memoir will raise a smile. It is a touch haphazard at times, would benefit from professional editing and isnʼt always PC, but what it lacks in polish it more than makes up for in behind-the-scenes insight – and some of the bookʼs profits are going to charity.
