Q My car, a Suzuki S-Cross SX4, is 10 years old but has only 13,000 miles on the clock. I’ve successfully updated its superb in-car sat-nav maps many times, but recently I encountered a problem. When I contacted Suzuki’s customer services, they told me updates had stopped in 2020 and that this model won’t receive any more. Does this sound right to you?

A Sadly, yes. Like other car manufacturers, Suzuki supports its built-in sat-nav systems for a limited period. Sometimes third-party providers continue to offer updates after the cut-offdate, but that’s not the case here. Garmin, which has been providing updates for your vehicle, stopped doing so in October 2020 (www.snipca.com/54305).
So we’re afraid there’s no way to update the built-in sat-nav, other than replacing the entire head unit, which is complicated and expensive.
A much cheaper and easier option is to buy a simple bracket, such as the pictured Veligood model (£7 from www.snipca.com/54306),and use Google Maps or a similar mapping app on your phone. This would also eliminate the need to update your maps ever again.
