FOLLOWING her second UK 1500m record last Saturday in Paris, Laura Muir will compete in the mile at the Great North CityGames in Newcastle and Gateshead on September 10.

Laura Muir: end-of-season races will be road miles
MARK SHEARMAN
The Scot, who has been arguably Britain’s best female athlete of 2016, will end a great season as she lines up on the quayside for the annual street athletics event.
In addition, she races the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile in New York on September 3.
Muir took more than two seconds from her national mark, set in July, when she clocked 3:55.22 to beat a field that was missing few of the world’s best in the French capital. Behind her were Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon and former European champion Sifan Hassan. The time is the fastest in the world this year and represents the quickest by a European in 28 years. It is the 16th best time in history and only world record-holder Genzebe Dibaba has gone quicker this century.
