Jim Clark en France
When French motorsport historian and publisher Dominique Vincent was shown the archives of Jabby Crombac, he spotted the potential for a new book on Scottish champion Jim Clark. As well as being Clarkʼs aide while he lived in France, Crombac was a close friend as the correspondence here shows. Clark couldnʼt speak French but, helped by Crombac, he was a tax exile in Paris.
As well as a wealth of 600-plus documents including telegrams, letters and photos, this 288-page book reveals the addresses of Clarkʼs two apartments, first in the 17th district and then in the 15th. When not away racing, he enjoyed Paris hangouts such as jazz club Chez Papa, and transport included his Lotus Elan and huge Ford Galaxie.
Stylishly designed and beautifully printed, this inspired work in French and English offers a fascinating insight into the shy speed heroʼs life abroad and his 41 races in France and Monaco.
