Malware hidden in ‘concatenated’ ZIP files
Scams and threats to avoid, plus new security tools
What’s the threat?
Scammers are delivering malware by hiding it inside ZIP files emailed as attachments. They’re using a technique called ‘concatenation’, in which they combine two ZIP files into a single archive. One contains malware, while the other is harmless content. This makes it difficult for software to detect and block the threat.
