Narrow Gauge Steam is a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the introduction of steam engines on the Ffestiniog Railway – the first narrow gauge steam locomotives in the world. This led the way to promoting the use of steam on narrow gauge railways across the world.
It shows the application of steam across a diverse range of narrow gauge railways in the UK and across the British Empire during the 19th Century, in industry and for carrying passengers.
With supporting historic text and rare archive pictures, personal recollections and anecdotes, Narrow Gauge Steam provides an insight into narrow gauge railway preservation in the UK with a wealth of colour and atmospheric photography.
