Yes, you do recognise the surname – Livia Firth is indeed the wife of actor, Colin Firth, but she is a star in her own right. Born and raised in Rome, Livia graduated in film studies from the University of Rome and ventured into documentary-film production. One of her most notable films is In Prison My Whole Life, which was directed by Marc Evans and made under her production house, Nana Productions, which she had started in partnership with Colin.
The film, about the wrongful trial and death sentence of a political activist who was accused of killing a policeman in 1981, was met with critical acclaim and honoured with the Best Documentary award at the International Human Rights Awards in Geneva, in 2007.
