Question of the Fortnight
Will ChatGPT’s operating system replace Windows?
It has launched apps for tasks you perform on PCs and in browsers
OpenAI has been stunned by how quickly ChatGPT has caught on.
Nick Turley, head of ChatGPT, recently told the website TechCrunch it’s “kind of bonkers” that 800 million people use it every week considering it’s not especially easy to use. He said that people prefer “going to Mac or Windows and opening applications versus remembering all the commands”.
He has a point. At times ChatGPT feels like a glorified Command Prompt, or even a text-based adventure game from the 1980s. You can’t launch full software from it, or open websites.
