Corporate flatter
Given the availability of far-future tech, it’s not clear why the war between Auntie’s Choice and the Protectorate has been reduced to trench warfare
A s in its predecessor, the message behind the characters of The Outer Worlds 2 is ostensibly anti-corporate, which leads to an obvious question about the money behind the studio creating it. Does the acquisition of Obsidian Games by Xbox Game Studios somehow invalidate any criticism of corporate culture, since the game itself is a product and beneficiary of that culture? It’s easy to wave away such concerns as irrelevant and a form of ad hominem. Criticising corporate practice while indulging in corporate practice might look disingenuous, but the criticism remains valid. Moreover, ironically, corporate media offers a reach for anti-corporate sentiment unavailable elsewhere.
