Welcome to the February Issue of GCN, as we look at the Past, Present and Future of issues related to our community.
The situation for LGBT+ families struggling for equal rights for their children features prominently as well as a feature about mental health in the community. The fact that Irish trans folk are forced to go abroad to access essential surgeries gets an in-depth look.
A feature on Direct Provision from an LGBT+ person forced to go through it sits alongside a hard hitting article on the lack of hate crime legislation in Ireland.
On the arts side of things, The Stairlings Collective, who also provided that beautiful cover image, share their new exhibition featuring trans women and non-binary femme identifying folk. There’s a wonderful look at queer representation in comics, while artist Louise Walsh revisits a revolutionary work decades later.
With elections on the way, there’s also an article on issues directly related to LGBT+ folk. Get out there on the big day and please use your vote!
