xkb5 looks like another alternative applet for managing keyboard layouts, but in fact Qxkb5 provides a Qt5-based interface to existing keyboard configurations stored in files such as 00-keyboard.conf in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d. It doesn’t, however, mean that you need to edit Xorg configuration files manually – Qxkb5 has a dedicated field for running a custom setxkbmap command under Settings>Xkb. The field contains a working command template, which you can either leave intact or adjust for another key combination (Alt+Shift, Ctrl+ Shift, and so on).
