KERNEL
100% free GNU Linux-libre
Bye-bye binary blobs – build a truly free system.
On 26th June, Freedo, the official spokespenguin for the GNU Linuxlibre project, announced the release of the GNU Linux-libre 6.4 kernel.
This is great news for fans of open source, as proprietary code like this can be useful to make sure hardware such as graphics cards and webcams work well out of the box, but may also contain undisclosed security bugs or backdoors. Libre-linux also disables run-time requests for non-free components, shipped separately or as part of Linux, and documentation pointing to them.
