THERE’S A LOT to be said for an attractivelooking graphics card, something that breaks away from the usual trends. PowerColor’s Hellhound Spectral White is hardly the first white graphics card to hit the market, but after a decade or more of variations on gray and black cards, it’s nice to have the option of something different. Unfortunately, PowerColor then skimps on the lighting, providing only white LEDs on the fans—it still looks cool, but unlike darker cards, the white shroud could have reflected the colors.
Besides the aesthetic considerations, there’s not much to differentiate this RX 6650 XT card from others with the same GPU. It has a minor factory overclock, from the reference 2635MHz to a ‘blistering’ 2689MHz. That’s only a two percent increase, close to the margin of error for benchmarks, never mind being able to tell the difference while gaming. PowerColor has also stuck with the reference 180W TBP (Typical Board Power), which also may limit any gains from the overclock.
