■ Tearlach MacFarlane will deliver a talk entitled Leac a Bhrataich - the Rock of the Standard. As Glenfinnan’s local historian, Tearlach will share his knowledge around the controversial issue of exactly where the Jacobite Standard is believed to have been raised in August 1745. This promises to be an interesting and entertaining evening and may challenge conventional thought. Everyone welcome on Thursday December 6 at 8pm in the Ben Nevis Hotel.
■ Room 13 Studios in Caol is holding its fourth exhibition and pop-up shop POPUPPOSSUM! on Saturday December 8 from noon to 5pm. T-shirts, sketchbooks, fine art prints, music, pizza and adopt-a-rock will feature. Admission is free. Visit the studio above the library, Caol Community Centre.
■ Lochaber Natural History Society’s next talk is by Alistair Whyte of Plantlife Scotland on Scotland’s Important Plant Areas. The meeting will be held at An Drochaid, Claggan Road, Fort William, on Monday December 11 at 7.30pm. Lochaber Camanachd Club is hosting its AGM on Saturday December 8 in the Bridge Cafe, Spean Bridge, at 4pm. All players, members, supporters or anyone interested in shinty are welcome.
