Once again the Friends of Oban Hospice, the fundraising arm of the hospice based at the Dove Centre in the town’s Stevenson Street, operated a wheel of fortune at shinty’s Camanachd Cup final in Oban on Saturday. It was shinty’s premier trophy and another successful outcome was achieved. Chairman of the friends, Iain MacIntyre, who is seen here with members of his committee – left to right, Shiralene Cave, Karen Campbell, Morven MacMillan, Lorna Kirkpatrick, Kathleen Black and David Evans – praised the generosity of shinty people even though the bulk of the crowd was not local. In addition to the wheel of fortune, copious amounts of homemade tablet was sold, with £100 being raised from a mini lottery. The final sum raised was just short of £400 with a surplus of donated bottles available to raffle at future events.
