POLICE in the Highlands recovered almost £150,000 worth of drugs last week.
Officers carried out 13 searches in Inverness, south Highland and Easter Ross as part of a targeted period of enforcement called Operation Ram. This resulted in the recovery of approximately 11kg of cannabis, 1kg of cocaine and large quantity of valium tablets. A quantity of heroin worth more than £16,000 was also recovered, as were smaller amounts of amphetamine, methadone and crack cocaine.
All of the drugs recovered are estimated to be worth a combined £147,000 – £6,000 in cash was also recovered. Eight people have been charged and inquiries are ongoing.
