There was an interesting letter from R M Dalrymple (The Oban Times, August 9), who says he is a regular visitor to Mull, on the subject of free parking on Tobermory waterfront. However, several points concern me.
Yes, it would be a sad day if parking charges with ugly meters were installed on the waterfront. I would, however, make the point that funds for up-to-date toilet facilities and other services have to be found from somewhere, so there is no easy answer.
Without being complacent, visitors who wish for some sort of ‘wild’ experience will always visit Mull, so just be every watchful for overboard development. Must the end of every road or track have campervan parking and cafes?
